This story has a pair of feuding families, diametrically opposed in all respects and mostly well drawn, to provide a subplot conflict for the romance. Unfortunately the ex-fiancee is not just strident and obnoxious, she also exhibits the most unreasonable behavior for a supposed psychologist. Even if she were capable of diagnosing her own fiance without doing a full psychological evaluation, there should be no way that she would then go around telling every random acquaintance about his "significant clinical abnormalities"! Either she is violating doctor-patient confidentiality, or medical privacy, or basic medical ethics! Aside from that annoying character, the story is amusing and well done.

I liked the paranormal aspect and I always love me an awkward, nerdy hero 🤓. Of course, there was more to the hero than that. I found it to be quite a memorable story - I think it was the “boredom with moments of stark terror” (can’t remember the exact quote) that kind of stuck with me. It was interesting. A book I could read again sometime in the future.
Absolutely, Positively loved this book! It was funny, romantic, informative and had a touch of drama. The characters were fun to explore as they showed different side of themselves through out the book. Be ready for surprises, the end may not be what you expected. I know it wasn't for me but I truly enjoyed reading as things unfolded only as Jayne Krentz could make it happen.
I have this book in both formats.. I was going on a trip and wanted some fun reading to take along. With luggage weigh being critical I couldn't take five books, so I purchased five ebooks. Three were Ms. Krentz books I already owned and read a zillion times. To matter how many times I read this book I always want to read it again.
I first read a book written by Jayne Ann Krentz some 20 years ago, and it was so good, I was thrilled to find this book on , and so pleased to find that not only was it a great read, but that this author has only gotten better over the years. This was such an enjoyable story and I loved the characters. Want a real fun way to unwind, read this book!

Molly hires Dr. Harry Stratton Trevelyan to review grant applications. So far Harry has rejected every single application that Molly has given him the review, of course this has Molly up-in-arms, lol! When confronted by Molly, Harry starts to slowly open up and Molly doesn't reject him. Harry is half Stratton, half Trevelyan which is a sure sign for disaster!
Molly is in danger but doesn't believe so until events spiral out of control...
Harry is scientific, logical, controlled, intelligent and doesn't believe in psychic mumbo jumbo. This makes it very unfortunate that he keeps getting information from his psi abilities. His current contract is consulting for a non-profit foundation, headed by the lovely Molly. Molly comes from a quirky family of inventors and is used to unusual behavior. She sees little wrong with Harry other than his denial of his gifts. Different story line has danger, psychologists on the loose, families feuding, love blooming and a dose of psychic powers. Who's the villain? You'll have to read the book.
I have read a lot of Jayne Ann Krentz books, under her many pen names. This is an earlier work re-issued. The plot is good, creative and clever. I bought it at a steep discount on kindle books, and it was worth that price. I enjoy her books, but find I like her later ones the best. Some may say she is repetitive, but my feeling is - it is escapist reading. Her voices and pacing are sound; she keeps the story line moving along, and she has a good ear for conversational exchanges. That is usually enough for me in this genre. If I want something stronger, I turn to other authors. "The Goldfinch" it isn't. Which is probably why I bought this one in the first place. Literature can be so slooowww on occasion.
